Ecological policy of JSC "Belaruskali".
Joint Stock Company "Belaruskali" is the leading enterprise in the mining and chemical industry of the Republic of Belarus, and one of the biggest in the world producer of mineral fertilizers, white, feeding and commercial salts.
Being the manufacturer of products that are extremely essential for agriculture, at the same time our enterprise has a definite adverse impact on the environment expressed primarily in the following:
- Natural and energy resources utilization;
- Surface subsidence as a result of mining operations;
- generation of significant quantity of liquid and solid tailings with cession of land for their storage;
- Pollutant emission and pollutants discharge to the environment.
JSC "Belaruskali" is aware of the importance and necessity of elimination or reduction of production negative impact on the environment and sets the following goals:
- Improving of environmental effectiveness of production owing to implementation of environmental activity directed first of all to the rational utilization of natural resources and energy saving, ambient air and water resources protection, reduction of negative impact by the process tailings on the environment, protection of land and objects situated thereon from negative impact of mining operations.
- Securing of ecological safety and prevention of contamination of the environment owing to implementation of measures directed to prevention of emergency situations and mitigation of their consequences.
For the fulfilment of the set goals, the employees of the company take obligations to follow up the standard ISO 14001 and the following principles:
- To fulfil requirements of the effective legislation of the Republic of Belarus and other requirements applied to and coming within its environmental aspects
- To estimate priority directions of environment-related activity, to attain and to implement particular goals and challenges, directed to prevention or reduction of company's negative impact on the environment and its constant improvement;
- To provide the preliminary estimation of technological environmental impact by new process engineering and by industrial construction works;
- To seek the selection of the most effective means of natural management, to use production technologies, materials and equipment that have a minimal negative impact on the environment and allow reasonable and efficient utilization of natural and energy resources;
- To conduct systematic observations of source of pollution condition that have the essential impact on the environment and environmental objects for timely effective development and implementation of corrective and preventive measures;
- To estimate environment system management operation for the purpose of possibilities' detection for its constant improvement;
- To maintain contacts to public and institutions concerning the issues of the ecological policy of the enterprise as well as to inform the suppliers and contractors about environmental requirements.
The Management of JSC "Belaruskali" assume responsibility for implementation of ecological policy, allocation of funds sufficient for functioning and constant improvement of environment management system and call on industrial enterprises and institutions of our city to cooperate in the issues of environmental safety of the industrial region Soligorsk.
